PORT ORANGE -- A hairdresser trying to
relax after work and a bit of shopping had her purse snatched, then was
dragged across the parking lot of Big Lots as she tried to stop her
assailant.
Egle Bell, 64, was taken to Halifax Health
Medical Center in serious but stable condition about 3:30 p.m., Capt. Frank

POI Hank arrived at this
scene, after Mrs. Bell was taken
from the scene in an
ambulance. POI Hank has heard that
Egle is the wife of Al Bell,
founder of Port Orange Family Days.
POI Hank also has learned
that the wife of
Christopher J. Weir EFO
Division Chief/Fire Marshal
City of Port Orange
Department of Fire & Rescue
happened to be in the area
where the crime was committed
and she gave aid and comfort
to Mrs. Bell while
waiting for police and fire
rescue to respond.
Mrs. Weir understandably is
very upset over this
heinous crime and still
shook up today.
WFTV channel 9, Orlando, TV,
Central Florida News
aired POI's video in its
evening news broadcasts
last night, June 27, 2008.
Channel 9 blurred the video
of the towel left at the scene,
saturated with blood.
I cannot blur the image in my
video which I will post this
weekend,
but I think that it would be
useful for us to see the results of injury
inflicted by this cowardly
criminal.
About 40 minutes after the
crime in Port Orange,
a man was arrested in New
Smyrna Beach for
a purse snatch. A Port
Orange detective went
to the New Smyrna Beach
Police Station to
investigate whether the
prisoner in New Smyrna Beach
might be the suspect Port
Orange Police were
looking for . I have
not heard anything,
and no new press release has
reached me,
so I guess the suspect in
New Smyrna Beach is
another coward preying on
females. Perhaps,
the investigation of the
prisoner in New Smyrna Beach
is still going on.
