ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
Calling an illegal alien an

Editorial
The Shame of Postville,
Iowa
Anyone who has doubts that this country is abusing and
terrorizing undocumented immigrant workers should read an
essay by Erik Camayd-Freixas, a professor and Spanish-language court
interpreter who witnessed the aftermath of a huge immigration workplace
raid at a meatpacking plant in Iowa.
The essay chillingly describes what Dr. Camayd-Freixas
saw and heard as he translated for some of the nearly 400 undocumented
workers who were seized by federal agents at the Agriprocessors kosher
plant in Postville in May.
Under the old way of doing things, the workers, nearly
all Guatemalans, would have been simply and swiftly deported. But in a
twist of Dickensian cruelty, more than 260 were charged as serious
criminals for using false Social Security numbers or residency papers, and
most were sentenced to five months in prison.
What is worse, Dr. Camayd-Freixas wrote, is that the
system was clearly rigged for the wholesale imposition of mass guilt. He
said the court-appointed lawyers had little time in the raids’ hectic
aftermath to meet with the workers, many of whom ended up waiving their
rights and seemed not to understand the complicated charges against them.
Dr. Camayd-Freixas’s essay describes “the saddest
procession I have ever witnessed, which the public would never see” —
because cameras were forbidden. ...

If the
immigrant is over 65 they can apply for SSI and Medicaid and
get more than my mom gets for Social Security, and she worked
from 1944 till 2004, only getting $791 per month because she
was born before 1924 and there is a "catch 22".
It is
interesting that the federal government provides a single
refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00, also each can
obtain an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total
of$2,470.00/month.
This compares
very well to a single pensioner who after contributing to the
growth and development of America for 40 to 50 years can only
receive a monthly maximum of $1,012 00 in old age pension and
Guaranteed Income Supplement.
Maybe our
pensioners should apply as refugees! Consider sending this to
all your American friends, so we can all be ticked off and
maybe get the refugees cut back to $1,012.00 and the
pensioners up to $2,470.00 and enjoy so me of the money we
were forced to submit to the Government over the last 40 or 50

(Washington,

SAVE Act discharge petition to finally address the problem of illegal
immigration. Tom Feeney
joined Rep. Heath Shuler (D-NC) back in November to introduce this
bipartisan bill.
"Floridians and Americans across this

this problem that they have been shouting about from the mountaintops.
"I urge members from both sides of the

.....Immigration has a fantastically
complicated political history in the United States. It has produced
enough populist anger to elect Know Nothing mayors of Chicago,
Philadelphia, Washington and San Francisco, all in the 1850s and, more
recently, to help
Lou Dobbs reinvent his television career and become a best-selling
author. But when national politicians have tried to seize on such anger,
they have usually failed — and failed quickly. “While immigration has
always roiled large sections of the electorate,” said Eric Rauchway, a
historian at the University of California, Davis, “it has never been the
basis for a national election, one way or the other.”...

Feeney Applauds Committee
Passage of Border Security Bill
Urges
Pelosi to Bring this Bill and also Shuler's Bill to the Floor - Now!
(Washington,
D.C.) - Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo) today released the following statement after
the Committee on Science and Technology unanimously approved H.R. 3916,
legislation to support the development of technologies to assist our border
patrol agents. The bill
focuses on four key long-term technologies that could
substantially improve the security of our nation’s borders: unmanned aerial
vehicles (UAVs), tunnel detection, anti-counterfeit technology, and
biometric technologies:
"The American people are rightfully sick and
tired of their leaders ignoring their pleas to secure America's borders.
It's time that President Bush and San Francisco liberal Nancy Pelosi listen
to the demands of the people.
"I'm pleased with today's committee passage
of a border security bill to equip our border patrol agents with the tools,
technology and coordination they need to protect America's national
interests and our ports of entry. This is a small, but positive step
forward.
"This week, I once again called on Nancy
Pelosi to stop blocking Rep. Shuler's widely supported bipartisan bill to
finally address illegal immigration. I certainly hope the cheap talk soon
ends and these important immigration bills quickly move to consideration,"
said Feeney.
H.R. 3916 also
includes provisions to extend a scientific advisory board that expires in
2008, requests input from the National Academy of Sciences on long-term
research trends in this area, and requires technical projects at DHS to
include clear cost and operational requirements. These provisions will help
local, State, and National agents control our borders. This bill will also
ensure that we carefully plan and coordinate border technologies so that we
protect the American taxpayer. This legislation requests
no new funds, and would be
carried out with the resources currently available to the Science and
Technology Directorate at DHS.

Below, please find
today's Washington Times Editorial that highlights Speaker Pelosi's
cheap talk on immigration. Why does Speaker Pelosi insist on
bottlenecking Rep. Heath Shuler's SAVE Act that has over 130 bipartisan
cosponsors?
For months, Tom Feeney has called on San Francisco liberal Nancy
Pelosi to listen to the demands of the American people and bring this
bill to the floor for a vote.
The SAVE Act offers a
three-point plan to stop illegal immigration:
• Title I—Secure
America's Borders
• Title II - Make Work Authorization Verification Mandatory
• Title III –Reduce Illegal Immigration Through Interior Enforcement

Pelosi's amnesty scheme
THE WASHINGTON TIMES EDITORIAL
February 25, 2008
For months, leading Democrats
like House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Congressional Campaign
Committee chief Rahm Emanuel have tried to talk tough on illegal
immigration. Mr. Emanuel told The Washington Post last year that
immigration is "the third rail of American politics," adding that
"anyone who doesn't realize that isn't with the American people,"
earning himself angry denunciations from the far-left fringe. Last
month, Mrs. Pelosi joined House Minority Leader John Boehner in
announcing that the House-passed economic stimulus bill would "not allow
any taxpayer funds to be distributed to illegals." The Democratic
leadership's efforts to sound tough on illegal immigration have created
serious friction with some members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus,
which believes the Democratic leadership is too timid about pushing for
amnesty legislation.
If senior Democrats were really
serious about a get-tough approach toward illegal immigration, we would
be urging the Republican minority to reach across the aisle and work
with the Democratic leadership to come up with a genuine bipartisan
solution. But unfortunately, the Democrats are putting together an
elaborate con job: using tough-sounding rhetoric while working behind
the scenes with open-borders advocates in the business community to win
support from from firms that have become very dependent on cheap foreign
labor. The goal of these Democrats — and possibly the U.S. Chamber of
Commerce as well — is to defeat a bipartisan bill that takes a
no-amnesty, enforcement-oriented approach to illegal immigration.
Specifically, they are very worried about the fact that a growing number
of moderate and conservative Republicans and Democrats (and even a few
liberals) are cosponsoring the Secure America through Verification and
Enforcement (SAVE) Act, H.R. 4088, introduced by Rep. Heath Shuler,
North Carolina Democrat.
The SAVE Act is an omnibus bill
that would strengthen border security and require that employers verify
that their workers are legally present in the United States. Forty-seven
Democrats and 89 Republicans are cosponsoring the Shuler bill, which is
currently bottled up in the House Judiciary Committee, where liberals
like Rep. Zoe Lofgren, California Democrat and chairwoman of the
Immigration Subcommittee, will work to ensure that it stays there.
Cosponsors range from conservative Republicans like Rep. Tom Tancredo
(Colorado); Rep. Brian Bilbray (California), chairman of the Immigration
Reform Caucus; and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (California) to moderate and
liberal Democrats like Rep. Mark Udall of Colorado, Reps. Sanford Bishop
of Georgia and Artur Davis of Alabama (both members of the Congressional
Black Caucus); and Rep. Ciro Rodriguez of Texas, a member of the
Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
Right now, Republican supporters
of H.R. 4088 are circulating a discharge petition in an effort to bring
the bill to the House floor for a vote. They need 218 members'
signatures, meaning that at least 20 Democrats would have to take the
supreme act of rebellion: directly defying Mrs. Pelosi, Majority Leader
Steny Hoyer and the rest of the party leadership to bring to a vote
legislation that the leadership wants no part of. Senior Democrats,
worried that they may not be able to keep the bill tied up in committee,
have come up with a Plan B — muddling the issue by attaching a killer
amendment to the Shuler bill, which would come in the form of an
amendment proposed by Rep. Joe Baca, California Democrat and chairman of
the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
The Baca Amendment would give
illegal aliens who pass a background check a "five-year temporary worker
permit" that expires on Dec. 31, 2012. It would also provide employers
who hired illegal aliens "safe harbor" (apparently some measure of
immunity from prosecution) for past hiring of illegal aliens. If Mr.
Shuler gets enough signatures to force his bill to the floor to be
debated, Democrats hope to neuter it by attaching the Baca Amendment. If
Mr. Baca's proposal were to become law, open-borders advocates could
come back later and pass legislation putting these illegals on a path to
citizenship. While not endorsing the Baca Amendment, a senior official
with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce told Congressional Quarterly that he
believed there was "some kind of deal in the works."
Fortunately, not everyone in the
business community is pushing for amnesty. The National Federation of
Independent Business, a leading group representing small businesses, has
endorsed Mr. Shuler's bill as drafted. "I can't believe the leadership
would be able to get any benefit from that," Mr. Bilbray says of Mrs.
Pelosi's efforts to derail the SAVE Act with amnesty legislation. "What
happened last summer," with the defeat of the Senate amnesty bill,
"should be a warning," he told The Washington Times.

I have a quick question maybe you can answer. Are all
illegal immigrants paid "under the table?" If not, they must be paying
into Social Security and Medicare...which obviously they will never be
able to file for. That must mean LOTS of extra money for an already
failing SSI system. What do you think?
Denise
----------------------------
That is an interesting question. I don't have the
answer.
Anybody out there know the answer to the question
or does anyone have the time to do some research
on the question for us?
It would be appreciated
--- hank,
poimages@cfl.rr.com
--------------------------------
I would agree with Denise. The money
goes into the system but there is really no way it can go to the people
with the fake numbers. While this seems like a helpful thing for the
system, I think it would be better to make sure the SS numbers are real.
Better yet, make SS voluntary. Those who do not want to take care of
their money can stay in and let me have my money and I will take care of
it myself. But we all know that SS is about power. The more money the
government can take from us, the more power they have over our lives.

I wonder how much money like that goes into
Social Security. Do they put it into the
fraudulent
social security number, that might be one of a

You know that I have written
that I think the plan of congress and their
fellow bed sleeping lobbyists is to
let SS go bankrupt and then
turn the retirement programs over
to corporate insurance companies or financial
institutions. They are really running this

POI asked Congressman's Feeney's office where the social

Here is the answer:
Feb. 11, 2008
Answer to our question comes
to us from
the staff at Congressman
Feeney's Office
Short answer is this: Title II
of the Social Security Act requires the Social Security Administration to
maintain records of wage amounts employers pay to individuals. For the
employer reports and amounts withheld where the names and social security
numbers are mismatched or fraudulent/stolen numbers are used, the money is
placed into the Administration’s ESF (Earnings Suspense File)—a repository
for unmatched wages. Though the SSA attempts to resolve discrepancies, for
those that remain unresolved, the money does not go back to the employee it
was taken from.
