If you have any conscience remove this video. Its
unfortunate that a great man as this died in a tragic accident and some jerk
like you continues along posting harmful images.

July 12, 2008 at 12:42 PM:
This video was sold for use to a TV channel
news station, central Florida. It probably was the case that any frames
showing the person of the injured were not used. The frames in the POI
video of the injured person did not show the face of the injured person.
I think the news media are sensitive to
complaints that might affect their advertising sponsors. I have no
such concern, but do have a concern that I do right by families connected
with a tragedy.
Some time ago, I guy who was hanging around
a roll over accident, looking, came over to me and voiced his displeasure at
the news media showing the faces of the injured in accidents. Some how
I guess he can handle standing around looking at a bloody woman being
professionally treated by our fine medics, but did not think that other
people should see such a scene, which he was interested in to remain at the
site and observe.
After that incident I invited POI readers
to respond to the issue, and only 13 readers responded. 8 were of the
opinion that the faces of injured should not be shown on the poi web site.
2 out of the eight were my family members. 5 readers thought that the
injuries in accidents should be shown as part of the whole story for the
public to be aware of what is going on out in the public safety sphere. (I
generalize)
Dorothea of L.I. pointed out that especially when someone is hurt and is the
victim of a wrong doing, the injuries on that person should be shown to
attest
to the crime or wrong doing or fault in an accident. (I paraphrase her
comments, not having them at hand to copy and paste.)
I think Dorothea's observations were very
much on the mark, because those who have complained about POI hank's videos
showing the injured, have been alleged family members of the injured, when I
would surmise the injured family member
might have been in the wrong.
If I remember correctly, the driver who was
killed in the Samsula accident was at fault for violating the right of way
of the other vehicle. I have heard that a member of his family
complained about my digital still images of the deceased covered in a yellow
blanket. I removed the images from this web site when I heard there
was a family complaint. You can read more on this incident at
Accidents in New Smyrna Beach Fl
Most POI
readers do not complain about the images and video published by POI Hank.
A sample poll of 13 people is not significant, but I think it means
something, when most people do not respond or perhaps care what is published
on POI web site.
I have related
how once, when a young man apparently was driving too fast and not wearing a
helmet, went down on his motorcycle. The mother came to the scene and
grabbed my camera and tried to take it away from me. Two policemen
came over to stop her from her assault. If he were not at fault, I
wonder if she
would not have mind pictures being taken to
show the guilt or mistake of another driver?
Out on the
streets, I have been yelled at that I will be sued, maybe 6 times. In
one case, it was a situation where the driver had struck a person in the
roadway.
The Daytona
Beach News-Journal used one of my digital still images. The female
victim had been shot and killed on her bicycle, at 2 am in the morning
besides a tall condo in Daytona Beach Shores. The image was startling,
because the headlights of a police car was shinning on the body, somewhat
like a spot light on a stage, while the crime scene was being protected for
investigation by detectives.
The image
showed the victim's legs and bottom torso draped over the bicycle, but not
the face of the victim. In this case, the concern was for the victim's
family, although I don't think the victim's family had written to the
News-Journal to complain.
I have made it
a policy to not show the face of an injured person, based on the small poll
finding I ran. But, I have had it in my mind to show the face of the
injured when another person is at fault for the crime or the accident as
Dorothea of L.I. had suggested.
In the
instance of the school teacher from New Smyrna Beach, who was liked by many
people,
I did make reference to the Daytona Beach News-Journal article which
featured how well liked the gentleman was and how he will be missed.
I understand
that in the accident that killed him,
he was showing two students how to ride bicycles, or do I have that wrong?
In any case,
as I understood what happened, the gentleman
was for some reason in the highway part of the bridge that went over
railroad tracks. And from what I could see at the accident scene, he
was on the blind crest of the top of the bridge.
Ok, so I am
the jerk to be showing such pictures.
And I know, especially in my old age, for some
God unknown reason, I too might find myself
making a mistake on the highway and getting myself killed. God, how I
hope I am not the
cause of another getting hurt or killed.
I do not want
to unnecessarily hurt family members, but I would like to be free to show
the full story, and the results of the carnage on our
Florida highways. I am not sure what my policy will be, but I
will look for some way to accommodate the sensitivities of family members.
Therefore, I
will be eliminating the video of the teacher who had been killed while
riding a bicycle over a bridge, and this deletion will be
on Monday, July 14, 2008. If you want to see that video and read the
comments from viewers go to

I worry that the public might think they
can dictate what can be shown on web sites such as mine. The second
amendment is still around, but there seems to be some who think they can sue
or call someone a jerk if what is published does not suit them.

Do not
stand at my grave and weep
I am not there I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glint on snow
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there - I did not die.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awake in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there - I did not die.
